In order to fulfill our mission of providing opportunities for our participants in the areas of life skills, job skills, creative interests, and social activities, Sparrow University was created.
The course categories of Sparrow University were carefully selected to meet the four-pronged mission statement. Classes are offered that provide the learners with a chance to socialize with their peers, learn new skills, and create products that are sold to help fund future classes.
Because safety is a top priority, our volunteers must submit to background checks. We maintain a volunteer/student ratio of 1:6 for unaccompanied participants.
Our instructors are experts in their respective fields who have a desire to volunteer their time to teach adults with intellectual disabilities.
We offer a variety of classes for adults with intellectual disabilities. The classes are designed with individual abilities in mind. We promote a safe atmosphere so all participants will feel comfortable.
The Sparrow Project helps adults with intellectual disabilities lead happy and fulfilling lives after graduating from high school. We’re a non-profit, faith-based organization that provides a safe environment for learning job skills and life skills. Students develop essential skills while pursuing creative interests and enjoying social activities.
Matthew 10:29 reminds us God’s eye is on things we deem insignificant. The sparrow symbolizes vigilance, joy, and creativity. Sparrows are small in size but extremely protective. Sparrows are constantly busy building nests, foraging for food, and protecting their young. Sparrows serve as a reminder that every person has worth and that busy hands and minds promote happy, fulfilling lives.
Matthew 10:29 – “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.”
If you are interested in enrolling in a class, take the first step by downloading the Participant Forms, filling them out at home, and emailing the packet to us. You will receive an email with the registration link once your packet has been reviewed and accepted!
